W-9 Request for Taxpayer Identification

The purpose of a W-9 is for a person who is required to file an information return with the IRS must obtain your correct taxpayer identification number (TIN) to report, for example, income paid to you, real estate transactions, mortgage interest you paid, acquisition or abandonment of secured property, cancellation of debt, or contributions you made to an IRA. 

 

 Form W-4

The purpose of a W-4 form is so that your employer can withhold the correct federal income tax from your pay.  Consider completing a new Form W-4 each year and when your personal or financial situation changes. 

 

 Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification

The general purpose of Form I-9 is to ensure that each employee is eligible to work in the United States.

 

 Certificate of Exemption

The purchaser should complete this certificate and give it to the seller.  The seller must charge sales tax if this certificate is not fully complete.
